5786: Check Your Connections

WRITER’S NOTE: This post was started on September 22, 2025. I have wrestled with the contents, fought through many a struggle since then, and finally finished it tonight, October 9, 2025.

Commit your way to the Lord [roll and repose each care of your load on Him]; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass. ~Psalm 37:5 (AMPC)

Shanah Tovah U’metukah. A good and sweet year to those celebrating Rosh Hashanah tonight, September 22, 2025.

This is the day that the Jewish people around the world celebrate the New Year. Occurring on the first of the month of Tishrei, Rosh Hashanah celebrates the creation of Adam and Eve. The creation of man.

*

In the fall of 2022, the Lord gave me a word – which I thought was for 2023 – called “vested”. As I meditated and studied the word, I came to realize that it was for the Jewish year 5784. It was strange to me that He gave me something for the Jewish New Year when I am not Jewish.

Yet, He did.

I was already receiving a word from the Lord for each new year on the Gregorian calendar. Naturally, I thought it was for 2023. Meditating on it, He slowly and gently confirmed to me that it was for the Jewish year 5784.

Vested. That’s not a word you hear every day, but it piqued my interest in learning about Israel.

Last year, I began to listen to teachings on Israel. Specifically, God’s chosen people, the Jews. I wanted to understand His relationship with them, and the meanings of His writings in the Old Testament (OT). The OT was written in Hebrew. Attempting to learn the Hebrew words of a text opens up greater understanding beyond the English words we often read today.

And so here we are, two years later, entering a new Jewish year.

What’s your word, Lord?

*

In July 2025, I was corresponding with my friend/mentor about the upcoming 5786 year. I love looking at the numbers in the year – in Hebrew. Regarding the number 6, I wrote:

The VAV (WAW in Ancient Hebrew), 6th letter of the Hebrew alphabet (alephbet), is the image of a hook. It’s like a joining of two things, like with the word “and”. It’s a connector!!! Roman crucifixions, I believe, would bend the nails. The nails that Jesus bore were the connection between the spiritual and the natural (the blood poured out via the nails).

Connector.

Connection.

The word for the Jewish year 5786 is “connection”. Merriam-Webster defines “connection” as:

  • the act of connecting: the state of being connected

Digging further into the definition of connected:

  • joined or linked together

When I think about the word connection, I think about how “connected” we are today. With the internet, we can “connect” with people all over the world. The obstacles of past generations are seemingly non-existent. We can find people who talk, think, or act like us. We can form “communities” with others based on similar interests.

Never have we been as connected as we are today.

What’s your word, Lord?

*

I’ve been studying 5786 since May. From my scrambled notes back then I wrote:

6th letter is Vav (Ancient Hebrew is Waw). Meaning = Hook; connected to. Jesus was our connector between earth and heaven.

internet, social media, is just what everyone else is saying.

And then I heard the Lord say,

Attend to My Words.

Know the Truth. Truth will set you free.

  • Don’t leave the truth. Lies seem appealing to our flesh. Walk by the spirit.
  • Hooked on truth.
  • There is a fight to not only believe truth but FIND truth too. Jesus said in John 14:6 that He is, “the way, the truth, and the life”. If Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, then why would we not follow His truth. LIFE is in Him. The RIGHT way to go is through Him.

Where is your attention?

*

What a weighty question. Where is your attention?

We live in such a connected world. Scrolling, scrolling, scrolling. Watching endless videos about dancing, baking, hoof cleaning, and more. We are so connected that the word “influencer” is actually a thing.

Think about that. INFLUENCER. Let’s change that question just a little bit.

Who is influencing you?

Whether we choose to admit it or not, we are all influenced by something or someone. Being a Christian, I would love to think that I am influenced by Christ alone. But who am I kidding? God asked me that “attention” question because He wanted me to evaluate my influences.

You know what another name is for “influences”? CONNECTIONS.

*

Commit your way to the Lord [roll and repose each care of your load on Him]; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass. ~Psalm 37:5 (AMPC)

Commit your way to the Lord. What does that mean? It means be connected to the Lord. Trust also in Him. What does that mean? Trust in Him and your connection will remain sound.

The VAV (WAW in Ancient Hebrew), 6th letter of the Hebrew alphabet (alephbet), is the image of a hook.

5786. Vav. The hook.

Hooks…connect.

The nails that Jesus bore were the connection between the spiritual and the natural (the blood poured out via the nails).

Those nails weren’t just nails. They were the connector. When we say yes to Jesus, we are connected to God the Father. Sin separated us from Father, but Jesus made a way for us to CONNECT to Him.

But when I look around the church today, I have to wonder, are we actually connected to Jesus? Are we connected with Holy Spirit? Are we connected with Father? Or are we more connected to the world?

See, I have been struggling with this word for 5786 because we are in a state of spiritual crisis. I see things coming to a head for many churches and ministries in the days ahead. I see it coming to a head for many individual Christians.

Why? Because of who or what we are connected to.

How many of us can’t go anywhere without our phones? How many of us can’t make it through a day without our tablets? When the latest and greatest device comes out, do we have to have it? Do we have to see what everyone is talking about on TikTok or Snapchat? Scroll, scroll, scroll. Publish, publish, publish.

We are more connected to technology than we are to the presence of God. We are more connected to our opinions or the opinions of others who agree with us than we are to the Word of God.

You may ask, “How do you know this?”

Because Jesus hasn’t come back for His bride. Revelation 19:6-8 says:

Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting:

“Hallelujah!
For our Lord God Almighty reigns.

Let us rejoice and be glad
    and give him glory!

For the wedding of the Lamb has come,
and his bride has made herself ready.

Fine linen, bright and clean,
    was given her to wear.”

The bride has not made herself ready. Jesus is coming for a bride who is READY. We are more connected to the world than to Him, than to our calling as His bride. That is why this 5786 year is all about CONNECTIONS!

Every Christian, every Apostle, Evangelist, Pastor, Prophet, Teacher, every church, every ministry – now is the time to review connections. Who or what are you connected to? If that connection is not bringing life and truth and glory to God, end it. Cut it off. Get rid of it.

This is not the time for scrolling. This is the time for commitment to the Lord. What’s coming is no joke. What’s coming will test every ounce of faith we have in the Lord. What’s coming will test and try us, and if we’re not fully connected to the Lord, we will get burned.

We are His temple. We house His precious Holy Spirit. We are not our own. We were bought with a price, therefore we glorify God with our bodies.

I want to be so connected with Him that I don’t have time to think. That means that I am walking more by faith than sight. I want to be so in tune with Him that the very idea of scrolling holds no power over me.

I want to be ready. I want to be.

But I never will be until I check my connections.

5786. Vav. Hook
