Recently, I went to Arizona to visit family and see my spiritual mama and mentor, who was in town for weekend services.
The main part of the trip was to see my mother who was about to turn 92 this month. After suffering a stroke in 2025, she has come a long way, living at home with my brother, yet taking care of herself quite well now.
Her body is showing signs of 92 years on this earth. The hearing is failing and the mind, the memory, aren’t quite what they used to be. Having a conversation on the phone was never easy to begin with, but today, it’s impossible.
That’s why it was vital that I visited her – to actually talk with her. I learned quite a bit about our mom’s life on this visit, but that’s not the point of this post.
My sister and I talked about her life after this earth.

A DAUGHTER’S PRAYER
Mom is now 92 years old. She is the last of her siblings alive on this earth, with her sister having passed in 2024.
It hasn’t been an easy life for Mom. I’m not sure of too many people her age who did have an easy life. In the grand scheme of things, none of us ever do if we’re honest with ourselves. It is in this context that my sister and I had a discussion about Mom.
With the mind fading, we don’t know how much time she has left on this earth. And with the time she has left, where does she stand with Christ? She does not know Him.
During our conversation, I believe the Lord prompted me to say the words, “clarity” and “sincerity”. Our prayer needs to be that Mom would have one moment of clarity (of mind) and one moment of sincerity (of heart), so that she is able to confess with her mouth that Jesus Christ is her Lord and Savior.
One moment is all it takes.

After coming home and getting back to work, those two words popped up again in my thoughts. Maybe someone said it in a sermon or maybe I read it in a book, but I heard the word “clarity” again.
Having written both words down, I followed that up by writing the number “5787” above them. 5787 is the upcoming Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah).

WHAT’S YOUR WORD? #1 – CLARITY
For those new to my blog, over the past few years God has been speaking a word for each new year. I started writing about it in 2017/18, but I remember receiving my first word for a new year over two decades ago. I didn’t understand it then like I do now, but then again I didn’t have a blog to write out my thoughts either.
And so here we are. Approaching almost 10 years of writing about the Lord’s words to me. I cannot express how grateful I am to Him to bless me in this way. My earthly father wasn’t involved in my life, and so my Heavenly Father has more than made up for it.
Which brings me to the coming Jewish New Year, 5787.
It’s funny sometimes. I begin asking Father for His word direction months in advance. There are times where I think He’s not going to give me one or He’s waiting until the last minute to tell me, just to see what I will do about it.
Yes, sometimes I squirm. Other times I do my best to forget. And then there are times when He drops it in my spirit and then He mic drops the scene.
Lol. I know He doesn’t because His word says that He will never leave us nor forsake us and that His Holy Spirit dwells in me, so…He ain’t going nowhere.
But this year for 5787, it was a mic drop moment.
And those mic drop moments are hard to forget, which is a good thing. Anyway, on to the words for 5787. First up, clarity:
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. James 1:5 (ESV)
Have you ever felt like you were called by God to do something, but you didn’t know how to go about it? Have you had a desire to serve God, but didn’t know where to start? You know that there is something you’re supposed to do, but you lack the “clarity” of how to proceed.
That, my friends, is a lack of wisdom.
In James 1:5, it tells us that if you lack wisdom, ask God for it. John 16:23-24 says that if we ask the Father for anything in Jesus’ name He will give it to us. Proverbs 4 implores us to “get” wisdom and that it is the “principal” thing.
There are many chapters of Proverbs and Psalms that point us to possessing wisdom. Paul prays for the Ephesian church to receive the spirit of wisdom and revelation from the Father (Ephesians 1).
To have clarity in a matter, we must ask Father for wisdom.
The word “clarity” there in James is the Greek word, Sophia. It refers to divine wisdom; God’s wisdom, which is His gift to us.
“Ask” in the Greek is the word, “aiteó” which means to supplicate or to pray for. Philippians 4:6 says, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”
So…if we lack clarity, we ask – bring our supplication to – God for wisdom. Psalm 6:9 tells us that the Lord has heard my supplication and that He will receive my prayer.

WHAT’S YOUR WORD? #2 – SINCERITY
In Joshua 24, there is a famous verse that talks about making a choice – whom you will serve. But that’s not the one I want to look at today. No, I want to look at the one before it.
Now therefore fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. Joshua 24:14 (NKJV)
Joshua is saying these words to the Israelites, reminding them of all that the Lord hasddone for them, as they are set to renew the covenant with Him.
“Sincerity” here is the Hebrew word, tamim, which means: truth, without blemish or spot or defect, virtue, uprightness, perfect or whole, righteousness.
Notice that first word listed? Truth.
Oh we could dive into so many other Scriptures there, but just let that word sink in for a minute.
Truth.
Sincerity. Truth.
In the Book of Joshua, chapter 24, Joshua is reminding the Israelites, at Shechem, all of God’s faithfulness to His people and the “sincerity” of His word.
He tells them to “fear the Lord” and be sincere and faithful to Him. There is a whole teaching on the fear of the Lord – which I believe is vital in these last days – but that is for another time.
Paul tells Timothy in 1 Timothy 1:5 (NKJV),
“Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith.”
What kind of faith? Sincere faith.
Jesus talks about the love commandment in Matthew 22:36-40 (NKJV):
Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
In light of Matthew 22, look again at 1 Timothy 1:5. “The purpose of the commandment is” what? Love. How do we obey the commandment to love, whether it is loving God or loving people? With a pure heart, from a good conscience, and what?
Sincere faith.

SEEK THE LORD
The Jewish New Year 5787 begins at sundown on September 11, 2026. I am not one to believe in coincidences, but it is striking to me that the year 5787 begins 25 years after 9/11 here in America.
Does it mean anything? I don’t know. It is just one of those things that make you think.
Like so many Americans on that day, I remember where I was the moment that the first plane hit. I was at home with a newborn baby only a few weeks old. I could not believe what my eyes were witnessing.
How could this happen in America?
I’ll tell you how. The Church was asleep (March 2026). It still is asleep in many respects today, but after 9/11? The Church was A-W-A-K-E!
Because of current world events, political or otherwise, taking place in America and Israel, I believe that the words for 5787, starting on September 11, 2026, are clarity and sincerity, for what is coming in the season ahead will bring much confusion and wandering for those without wisdom, truth and faithfulness.
This isn’t about predicting doom and gloom for what lies ahead. Nor am I saying another 9/11 is coming. This is discerning what we the Church must walk in for the time now and yet to come.
Having said that, I am reminded of Isaiah 55:6,
Seek the Lord while He may be found,
Call upon Himwhile He is near.
Jesus is coming. As 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 reminds us,
For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
John 14:1-4 (NKJV) assures us:
Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.”
Seek the Lord for clarity (wisdom) with sincerity (truth) NOW! Not tomorrow. Not next week. Not when 9/11 rolls around again. NOW!!!
He is coming back for His Bride. Are you ready?
One moment of clarity. One moment of sincerity. Just as I pray this for my mom, I also pray this for you today.
Seek Him while He may be found. Call upon His Name. Don’t wait until it’s convenient.
Now is the time.
